Important announcement

Our next gathering was scheduled for December 11, 2025. This meeting was scheduled to be held at Second Harvest food bank of East Tennessee. 136 Harvest Lane. However, THIS MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELED.

PLEASE READ:

After much reflection, the founders have made the difficult decision to wind down the affairs of our networking group. As a result, we will not be holding meetings in the new year, and the group will officially be disbanding.

We are deeply grateful for the connections, collaboration, and community that each of you has helped build. This group has been sustained by your participation, generosity, and shared commitment to supporting one another. We encourage you to continue seeking community by attending other chamber events.

Our Speaker for August 2025

Katie Francis

Katie Francis is a Communication Strategist with over two decades of experience practicing in
science and engineering and a lifelong passion for writing. She founded KF Consulting Services
in 2024 to help professionals strategically manage their project deliverables, from grants and
proposals to final reports and documentation. As a ghostwriter, Katie also helps entrepreneurs
write and publish books that establish their authority and open new careers opportunities.

Leigh is a USAF Veteran, wife, mother and attorney, licensed in Tennessee, Florida, & New York. She’s been practicing law since 2007 and has over 30 years of business experience in several industries, including aviation, medical devices, insurance, securities and financial planning, hospitality, transportation logistics, university education, publishing, real estate investing, and both litigation and transactional legal practice. She’s lived in East Tennessee since 2018, and before that she lived in France for 8 1/2 years. Florida was her home for many years as well, along with California, New York, Idaho, Mississippi, and North Carolina. She’s been married to her husband Craig for over 20 years and has 5 children and 10 grandchildren. She’s a big animal lover and a tennis fanatic. Today, she splits her time between Tennessee and Florida, with offices in both states.

SWSB: WHO WE ARE

Smart Women, Smart Business (SWSB) is a business networking group for women only, meeting in Blount County, Tennessee on a bi-monthly basis. Our mission is to support women in business through educational presentations by industry experts, focus group discussions, and networking connections. We highlight and gather donations for a different, local non-profit organization at each meeting, and actively gather input and participation ideas from our members.
